Bremen City officials say Burger King has recently expressed interest in opening a new location along Highway 27 near Walmart. City Manager Perry Hicks said he has met with real estate representatives working with Burger King to speak about the property, which is located across from Walmart on Highway 27 at the Bremen Crossing traffic light.
“They have indicated that they’ve already written contract proposals for the purchase of the property at that site, but we still haven’t had any official site plans or anything like that submitted,” said Hicks.
The small parcel of land where a Burger King restaurant could potentially be constructed is part of what is currently a larger, 50-acre section of property that Hicks said would need to be divided after it is potentially purchased.
“They have already asked about certain infrastructure connections such as water, sewer, and gas,” said Hicks.
Hicks noted that the felt the property would be ideal for a new restaurant location.
“Being right there across from the Walmart on the highway—that would be an ideal location for a restaurant of some kind,” said Hicks. “We will be waiting to hear more from them soon, hopefully.”
Burger King initially expressed interest in creating a new location next to Waffle House on Highway 27. Plans for that specific location were cancelled, and there are now plans to build a Popeyes Louisiana Chicken restaurant at the location.
The popular burger chain has also expressed interest in constructing a new location in nearby Temple. It is still not clear whether Burger King would construct new locations in both Bremen and Temple.
