A year ago The City Menus reported on a new bakery opening in downtown Newnan between Greenhouse Mercantile and the former 10 East restaurant. As followers and loyal readers of this page, our audience greeted Cookie Barr with tremendous fanfare. We watched as families would walk downtown with cookies in hand with enjoyment.
After being open eight months Sarah’s Cookie Barr has closed; and Sarah tells us, “I’d like to thank the wonderful people of Newnan for their support.”
According to a Facebook post she writes, “I’ve decided it is time to close Cookie Barr effective immediately. It has been a great pleasure to serve you the past 8 months. Not sure what the future might bring, but I anticipate selling at local markets as I did before. If you know anyone who is looking for restaurant or retail space in downtown Newnan, please let me know.”
As you might recall, Sarah started selling cookies at the farmer’s markets in Newnan and Peachtree City. It is not known if you might find Sarah once again at these locations. Just recently a major motion picture redecorated the storefront inside and out as a New England diner, and then in just a day it was all back to normal. The City Menus will keep you updated if cookies are seen at the local farmer’s markets.
