Sammon Daughter Purchases & Merges Floral Shop

Meredith Sammon, daughter to businesswoman Lynn Sammon, keeps the passion for family business alive in Carrollton. With her recent purchase of Price Florist and The Flower Cart, both have merged into one location directly off Bankhead Highway. Nathan and Joan Price founded Price Florist in 1957. The entire location was run by the family with the help of one designer. When Mrs. Price died in 2000, Carolyn Threadhill, who had purchased the Flower Cart in 1986, purchased Price Florist. Carolyn had moved the Flower Cart from First Tuesday Mall to the current Bankhead Highway location.

In August of 2018, Meredith Sammon was presented with the opportunity to buy The Flower Cart / Price Florist. She tell us, “After many days of deliberation I drove home to further discuss the opportunity. As I stood in the shop, I realized this would make me happy for the rest of my life.” Within just a few weeks the purchasing offer she had made was accepted. She says, “My dream was coming true. I decided to combine both shops at the advice of the previous owners. So far this transition has seen positive outcomes for both customers and employees.”

Since the transition many have noticed lots of updates, including fresh interior paint, a re-arranged space, removal of old display windows so new ones can be installed. Once inside the shop customers will smell all the beautiful flowers! Meredith Sammon thanks her Grammy, JoAnne Smith, who she says is a “cleaning machine” and a “spearhead” to the project.

For those who might not know, Meredith is still in college. She says, “My family gives me strength and inspires me; over the past two years I’ve watched my mother open Downtown Gowns as well as my uncles, John and Tom Sammon, transform the old Lion Hills Golf Course into the beautiful Lion Hills Vineyard Event Center. My endeavor would not have been possible without my family.”

The Flower Shop boasts the largest selection of silk flowers in Carroll County. They also design their own original silk selection. Customers are able to order practically anything from a dozen roses to a stunning artistic creation. With over 50 years of combined experience, both designers Rhonda and Heidi can create a masterpiece! The shop is able to focus on everyday floral needs, funeral work, events, and weddings. Weddings are especially important to Meredith, “Weddings are an exciting time for a bride, and I am thrilled to be more involved with this aspect of the business. When I am at my store full-time starting this summer, I plan to hit the ground running and never stop.”

Meredith also tells The City Menus that there are many plans for The Flower Cart / Price Florist to come. In closing she says, “The community overall has been extremely supportive of my new endeavor, during the open house this past December many people came to give support and words of encouragement. I cannot thank the City of Carrollton enough for the continued support. I look forward to helping the community in any way I can. Carrollton is my home and I am counting down the days until I am back!”
