About five years ago, the Williams family held a ribbon cutting for the locally-owned and operated Williams Pharmacy on Hospital Drive in Douglasville. Big dreams came true for owner Chelley Williams by serving the community. However, in a post on Facebook, Chelley writes that the pharmacy has been sold to Walgreens. Her post reads as follows:
“It is with a very heavy heart that I let you know we sold the pharmacy to Walgreens on Fairburn Rd (by chick-fil-a) today. Looking back on the day almost 5 years ago, when a much younger and bright-eyed girl cut the ribbon to celebrate our opening, I had big dreams of serving our community, and you all helped them come true. I am thankful for everyone who prayed for me while I was sick and who kept supporting our business. I never will be able to replace the amazing employees I had who also have become some of the very best of friends. I am so thankful to Dave who worked every single day helping support my dream. I never thought I would say how much I will miss him rearranging every day, cleaning under me, and playing Andy Griffith in the waiting room on repeat. We have the best customers, and I will treasure our relationships with you forever. Breast cancer has taken so much from me; however, it has not taken my life, and I am grateful to still be here. Thank you again for allowing us in your lives, and I hope to still be a part of them just a little ways down the road.”
In 2015 The City Menus reported that Williams Pharmacy opened directly across from the Douglas County Courthouse. Read that story by clicking here. Our entire team sends positive thoughts of comfort to Chelley, along with her family and the staff.
October is breast cancer awareness month, let all of us wear our pink ribbons to show support for those affected by breast cancer. To get involved on a local level, find resources and information from Hope for the Journey by clicking here.
