A merry, musical Christmastime breezes into the Carrollton Center for the Arts with the Carroll Community Wind Ensemble’s Winter Concert, December 16.
“This is one of those treasured groups within the community that shows up to support important events throughout the year,” said Carrollton Arts Superintendent Tim Chapman of the ensemble. “This concert features the talent and commitment that these musicians have in order to make Carrollton a better place to live.”
The Carroll Community Wind Ensemble, which is celebrating its ninth season this year, is a community outreach program of the Carroll Symphony Orchestra and is under the direction of CSO Conductor Terry Lowry. The wind ensemble is open to anyone living in west Georgia or east Alabama who played a symphonic band instrument in high school or college. The group performs fall and spring concerts at the Amp and their popular Christmas show at the Center for the Arts. The volunteer musicians of the CCWE present more than thirty concerts yearly, in concert halls, amphitheaters, schools, nursing homes, hospitals, churches and local businesses across the county. They also perform at Veterans Memorial Park for Veterans Day, Memorial Day and First Responders Day (9/11).
“The Carroll Community Wind Ensemble is very much a concert band,” said Lowry. “The members play at such a high level and serve our community by performing at so many events. These volunteers are really great people who play like a professional band.”
Groups from the CCWE will also carol around Carrollton on Wednesday, December 18th, and Saturday, December 21 at Kroger, Publix, Walmart, American Pie, United Community Bank, Southern States Bank, Cheers Fine Wine and Spirits, Tanner Medical Center, the Georgia Department of Labor and Adamson Square.
