Carroll County School System held its annual Spelling Bee on January 31, at the Carroll County Schools Performing Arts Center. Eighteen students from Carroll County elementary and middle schools participated in the event. After 11 rounds of competition, Bryson Adams, an eighth grade student from Bowdon Middle School, took home first place by correctly spelling the word, “capillary”. Christopher Duncan, a seventh grade student from Central Middle School, earned the second place title. By winning first place in the County Spelling Bee, Adams is eligible to compete in the Georgia Association of Educators Region Spelling Bee, which will be held on March 13th in Atlanta, Georgia.
Jennifer Shirley, Director of Elementary Education and District Spelling Bee Coordinator stated, “We are very proud of all of this year’s Spelling Bee contestants. Seeing students from 18 different schools demonstrating their knowledge and competitive skills in this event is a testament to the quality of education available throughout our district. We congratulate Bryson and wish him all the best at the next level of competition!”
Carroll County School System greatly appreciates the support of our community partners that made the event possible: Carroll County Board of Education; Carroll County Association of Educators, Carroll EMC, Tanner Medical Center, and Chick-fil-A.
