Tanner Health System Now Limiting Access to Facilities

While there have been no confirmed cases of the novel Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) at any of Tanner Health System’s facilities, the health system is implementing more stringent visitor policies to keep patients, visitors and employees safe.

Tanner asks that you refrain from visiting a patient if you:

  • Are 16 or younger
  • Are not an immediate family member or significant other of a patient
  • Have traveled to countries with ongoing COVID-19 activity in the past 14 days
  • Have been in close contact with someone who has or is suspected of having COVID-19
  • Have symptoms of a fever, cough and shortness of breath

Additionally, no more than one visitor per patient will be permitted. Tanner’s staff will work with families who have special circumstances — such as a critically ill or injured loved one — on a case-by-case basis.

The health system is also limiting access to all its hospital facilities. All patients and visitors will undergo a screening as they enter. Signage on each campus will direct visitors to the available entrance. A list of entrances and hours is available at tanner.org/ncov.

Tanner is implementing this restriction in advance of any occurrence of COVID-19 illnesses in our community.

“As a community hospital system, it’s our primary goal to protect the health and safety of our patients, employees and community,” said Loy Howard, president and CEO of Tanner. “These restrictions will ensure we are able to continue that mission.”

The health system also announced this week that it would be suspending all classes and public events for at least the next two weeks. Registered participants for those events are currently being notified and classes will be rescheduled as soon as possible.

More information on the health system’s visitor policies is available online at tanner.org/visitorrestrictions.
