What: Road construction crews with East Coast Grading, Inc. of Rutledge, Georgia are scheduled to start a project to realign and extend the left and right turn lanes from Georgia 54 to Georgia 34 in Sharpsburg on Monday, Sept. 21, 2020. The project is expected to start at 9:00 a.m. and be completed by the end of the day.
The Georgia DOT’s Quick Response project will include an asphalt overlay, new striping and signage. The cost of the project is $50,512. The project was enacted to accommodate increasing numbers of vehicles turning from Georgia 54 to Georgia 34.
During the project, crews will close a lane of traffic around the work zone and signal flaggers will be on site to direct traffic through the area. Temporary signs will be posted in advance of the lane closure, and drivers should slow their speeds and be alert to the workers and their equipment when driving through the intersection. The crews will modify their work during the afternoon hours to accommodate local school traffic and keep disruptions to a minimum.
