In 2019 the City of Heflin Council along with the Industrial Development Board announced that Loves Travel Center had entered into a land agreement on 20 acres located on the westbound side of I-20 at Exit 205. Dirt is now being moved for the new travel plaza which should open in the next few months. It was also mentioned at the time that the Loves Travel Center would create thirty jobs for the community.
In other construction news, a Los-Arcos Mexican Restaurant will soon open in the former Lonestar Steakhouse at 171 Colonial Drive in Oxford. According to the City of Oxford’s Building Department more restaurant construction is well underway off Leon Smith Parkway, including a Texas Roadhouse, Chick-fil-A, and a possible Buffalo Wild Wings.
