Press Release from the City of Anniston
“Grocery Value Leader” ALDI continues its coast-to-coast expansion with new stores, one of which will soon be constructed North of Lowe’s on McClellan Boulevard in Anniston, Alabama.
“I deeply appreciate the efforts of city staff, Retail Strategies LLC, and the great men and women
of ALDI for making this a reality. We truly believe in the future economic development of this
area, and this progress is most certainly a sign of good things to come. I know that I speak for all
Annistonians when I say that we welcome ALDI with open arms,” said Anniston City Mayor Jack
Draper.
City of Anniston Economic Development Director, Toby Bennington, echoed the Mayor’s
sentiments stating, “Economic Development is a team effort. It takes many people and groups
working together in order to make things happen. We believe this development will be the first of
many for the area, and we certainly want to thank our partners at Retail Strategies, LLC and at
Blackwater Resources for their combined efforts in this project!”
In addition, ALDI wants our city to know that as it continues to grow, supporting the safety and
well-being of its employees, customers and community partners remains its top priority. No matter
how customers shop — in store or online — they can be confident in the safety measures and plans
the company has introduced to reduce exposure to and spread of COVID-19.
