A new Burger Bar is coming to Downtown Carrollton! Located in what used to be Plates on the Square, Chip’s is bringing a hip new burger concept to add another item for the palates of Carrollton diners. Owners Molly Rowell and Derek Huynh are thrilled to bring another dining experience to Adamson Square, “Right across the square is where our first restaurant is located,” said Rowell. “It’s an Asian fusion restaurant called Nama. It opened in 2018 and has been thriving ever since. We are so lucky to have the support of the Carrollton community! Once people started to put together that Chip’s was going to be taking over the space where Plates once was, the feedback was amazing!” Rowell continued.

Chip’s will still feature the two-floor layout people were used to at Plates. The downstairs will be fast casual for guests that want a quick bite, and the upstairs will be more of a sit-down dining experience. “We have been getting asked a lot where the name ‘Chip’s’ came from. The restaurant is named after Molly’s dad, Chad “Chip” Rowell. [It’s a] nickname given to him a few years back that is kind of a running joke in our family,” explained Rowell.

Chip’s is focused on providing high quality food and customer service at a reasonable price point. All of the protein served at the restaurant is locally farmed. “Our meat is locally sourced from a small cattle farm, Daniel-Jackson Meats,” said Rowell.

The owners of Chip’s have done some renovating to the restaurant, and guests should expect good food and good fun when they go to Chip’s. “Downstairs will be trendy and fast casual,” said Rowell.

“Upstairs we still have the same trends, but it is also a space for hanging out with the company of others.  [It will] include the full service bar, plenty of seating, and many interactive games including basketball, shuffleboard, foosball, and more,” Rowell elaborated.

Chip’s is not yet open but is expected to be open to the public in late March of this year. “We are incredibly excited for Chip’s Burger Bar to become a part of the downtown community. We are so grateful for the feedback of the community so far!” Said Rowell.
