Owners Michael Williams and Zack Nettles–who have been in the antique, vintage, and collectibles business for over 35 years–are excited to bring their passion, Country Bears Farm Mercantile to historic downtown Tallapoosa. Both agree, “Shoppers can enjoy shopping our curated collection of modern and vintage home goods, gifts, and seasonal favorites from business owners offering good ol’ hometown service.”

The mercantile carries a variety of home interiors and gifts; along with vintage finds, candles, toys, comics, and collectibles. They are also expecting to bring in more ironwork and statuary in the future. “We definitely seek out unique items that people just kind of go ‘Oh, I love that’.” Because of this unique approach, the shop may carry only one or two items.

Michael, who is originally from Bremen, moved to Zack’s home town of Jacksonville, Florida. After being there for 22 years both felt it was, as Michael elaborates, “…just time to reclaim those country roots and be closer to home.”

“We sought out a place that was truly hometown and community-driven, and Tallapoosa just kind of checked all of the boxes,” Zack mentioned.

Michael and Zack are appreciative of the city of Tallapoosa, saying, “I mean they’ve been just from day one everything shy of rolling out a red carpet, and they’ve pretty much done that. Just locals.  They’re so reassuring to us that they come in and sneak peek around. And the last thing they always say is ‘We’re excited for you to be here’.”

As for the other business owners in the area, Michael and Zack say they are “Thankful that they’ve made it pretty seamlessly easy and fun to open a business in Tallapoosa. You know opening up a business is probably one of the most stressful things you could possibly ever do.”  However, they agree that the other business owners have made them feel part of the community and given them the feeling of “promoting each other.”

The shop is open on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, is located at 38 West Alabama Street, Tallapoosa, Georgia, at what was once known as the Peach Pistol Boutique. A grand opening celebration for the new shop happened this past weekend. You can keep up to date with the Country Bears Farm Mercantile stock and events on Facebook here or email them at [email protected] to ask more specifically about items you’ve seen or are looking for.
