Central High School sophomore Elizabeth “Lizzie” Long is the recipient of the 2023 American History Award from the WoodmenLife organization.

WoodmenLife, formerly Woodmen of the World, is one of the largest fraternal orders in America today. The student selected for the honor must have a proficiency in American History. WoodmenLife encourages the study of our country’s history by challenging students to make their best grades and demonstrate outstanding performance in American history classes.

Lizzie has demonstrated both love of country and community as a student at Central High School. She is the highest achiever in Ms. Brittany Luke’s U.S. History class, not only in test scores, but more importantly in character and in her hunger for knowledge. Principal Mr. Kelly Edwards commented, “She embodies what a premier student is all about. Her enthusiasm for learning is contagious.”

Lizzie is the daughter of Andrea and Thomas Long of Carrollton.
