After over a decade in its current location, Staples in Carrollton is getting a makeover and some additional services for customers to utilize.

Nick Bailey, general manager of Staples for the past two years, has been with the company for 12 years, beginning when the store moved to its current location in the Kroger shopping center from the area of One Life Fitness. Carrollton residents have been able to utilize Staples since 1999, but have not seen any renovations in 12 years.

Now with the upcoming new phase, Staples will offer new services and atmosphere. The Carrollton location was selected amongst 14 stores to be included in the Atlanta growth market – Staples locations that are undergoing renovations to roll out the TSA Precheck feature. There will be a larger variety of products to shop for in the furniture department of desks, chairs, etcetera. The copy and print center is expanding as well.

“Seeing the growth for the store, and obviously, being chosen by the company, to get the renovation and to go through the growth market remodel, because they’re not doing it in the entire company. They’re just picking sections of the company, and Atlanta was one of the areas that did it. So being chosen is a great honor, considering I’ve been here since we’ve opened in this location and just seeing how well we’ve done and advanced in our sales and services through the years,” Bailey said.

Customers who utilize the TSA Precheck will have a valid precheck for five years. “Part of it is for when you get to the airport, you get through security and everything faster because of your TSA PreCheck. So, you don’t have to take off your shoes, you don’t have to dump out your liquids and all that stuff. You don’t have to go through all that extra scrutiny at the check in,” Bailey said. Truck drivers also can utilize this feature as they are required to get a fingerprint background check to transport certain materials.

Bailey said that he hopes that these new services and renovations bring a new customer demographic. “You know, bringing in TSA PreCheck helps to get different people into your store that may have never come to Staples before and might not know all the services that we offer,” Bailey said.

The renovations, begun in late April, have a projected completion date of mid-late May. The store will have an official grand opening and ribbon cutting on June 28. Staples will remain open during this time and continue to offer existing services like passport photos, the print and copy center where customers can get custom banners, yard signs, business cards, flyers, and other marketing products. Staples is also a UPS drop-off location. In addition to shipping, the store assists customers doing returns from shopping with other businesses.

Staples is located at 1325 South Park Street and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. To contact the store, call 770-836-1088.
