Dyson Bar and Grill Finds a New Home in Carrollton

The Dyson Bar and Grill brings a new source of food and entertainment to Carroll County. Carrollton residents and visitors now have a new restaurant where they may dine and unwind with friends and family, thanks to Carlos Dyson, owner of Dyson Bar and Grill, and his business partner, Tyson Blackeney.

Dyson and his family relocated to Carrollton from Washington, D.C. in 2021. Dyson noticed a lack of bars in town and opened Dyson Bar and Grill on the spur of the moment to bring a fresh mix of southern food and entertainment to the city.

“[Once I got here] I’m thinking Carrollton needs to have a bar,” said Dyson. “I went past a spot up the street and this lady was in it. She said she didn’t want to be here and wished she had someone to take over the restaurant, so I said I’ll buy it.”

Dyson has spent his entire life cooking for his family, and as a picky eater he had to learn to make his meals flavorful in his own unique way.

The restaurant was inspired by a joke between him and a friend. One Sunday he made a batch of crab cakes to see whose food tasted better; little did he know that this would launch his professional culinary career. Furthermore, because he sold his crab cakes to friends and family, he gained more clients and exposure for his cooking.

Although crab cakes are considered one of the signature dishes, Dyson Bar and Grill offers a diverse menu that includes lamb chops, catfish, salmon, and numerous other food items.

Dyson Bar and Grill opened for business on April 26. However, the ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on May 18, with the grand opening two days later on May 20.

Dyson’s primary goal is to provide a positive and welcoming environment for customers. Diners can watch television at the bar while eating a delicious meal. Customers will also be able to participate in a variety of interactive activities ranging from games to live music on stage.

“Thursdays and Fridays we have live entertainment, and on Saturdays we have live karaoke,” said Dyson.

Members from Total and 112, two 90s groups, recently performed at Karaoke night. In addition, on Mondays and Wednesdays, Dyson desires to begin a paint and sip, as well as different game shows such as The Price is Right and Family Fued. This allows guests to experience a new form of entertainment each day.

“I’m just trying to bring something that I would want to do and won’t have to go all the way to Atlanta to do so,” said Dyson. “I live in Carrollton, so I want to support Carrollton.”

Located at 700 Bankhead Highway, Dyson Bar and Grill is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to midnight, and from 12 p.m. to midnight on Saturdays. Visit Dyson Seafood and Chicken (Dyson Bar and Grill) on Facebook or follow them on Instagram for more details and to stay up to date on their exciting events.

“I think the city of Carrollton is the best city I could ever go to,” said Dyson. “Come down and enjoy a good dinner.”
