West Georgia Technical College President Dr. Julie Post is pleased to announce that Steve Cromer will be the new Vice President of Economic Development at West Georgia Technical College (WGTC).
Cromer has been employed with the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) since 1999. He has served in several positions within the system including Industrial Systems Technology Instructor at Flint River Technical College, Dean for Academic Affairs at Southern Crescent Technical College, Senior Director of Advanced Manufacturing at WGTC, and most recently, Assistant Vice President of Economic Development at WGTC.
“Steve has an incredible history with technical education, beginning with how much he values his own associate degree from a technical college, industry expertise, years as an instructor, and vast customized training development,” WGTC president Dr. Julie Post said. “He is so passionate about West Georgia Tech and providing our communities with access to training for workforce development, that he is more than well-equipped to lead our reimagined efforts to be the non-credit and apprenticeship source for industry support.”
Cromer holds an Associate of Applied Science from Central Georgia Technical College and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Mercer University. He later earned his master’s degree in Training and Performance Improvement from Capella University.
With an extensive background in economic development and a proven track record of success, Cromer brings a wealth of experience to this role. In 2016, he facilitated the transition of the KIA maintenance training program from Quick Start to WGTC. Most recently, he established a long-term training partnership between Delta Airlines Ground Support Equipment division and WGTC. Additionally, Cromer has developed partnerships with multiple business and manufacturing companies throughout the WGTC service delivery area to provide customized skills assessments, skills gap training, and continuing education training.
“Steve’s accomplishments and proven expertise have earned him the trust and admiration of colleagues and community members alike,” Post said. “We have no doubt that under his guidance, WGTC will continue to make significant strides in fostering economic growth and creating opportunities for our students and the local workforce.”
