Close to 500 students at Peeples Elementary School in Fayetteville learned essential money skills from Delta Community Credit Union this week. Tailored to third, fourth and fifth graders, the series of workshops is the largest single-day financial literacy event held by Delta Community’s Financial Education Center, which the credit union launched in 2016.
The students spent the morning learning about earning, saving, spending and giving from Delta Community representatives, who taught interactive lessons involving games and real-world scenarios focused on understanding money management. A handful of credit union employees also volunteered to assist the classes.
The large-scale financial literacy event was possible through Delta Community’s Schools Program, which allows the credit union to partner with local schools to provide additional resources such as financial education to students in metro Atlanta.
