Life just got a little bit easier for the Keith family of Franklin, Georgia. They have the distinction of being the 1,500th customer to receive fiber internet from Crossbeam, the local residential internet company of SyncGlobal Telecom.
Before Crossbeam, the Keith family, like many others in Franklin, struggled to find a reliable internet connection. As a college student who lives several hours away, Passion Whitlow was unable to visit during the school year because she needed a dependable internet connection for online classes and studying. All that has changed now. Passion was able to come home for Thanksgiving and stay current with schoolwork thanks to Crossbeam’s service. Beverly Keith, Passion’s mother, said, “The entire family is excited to know that when Passion graduates in May, she will be able to move back home to pursue a master’s degree in social work via online classes. I am thrilled she will be able to do this from the comfort of our home!”
Kaitlin Bagwell, Crossbeam’s Senior Customer Service Representative, has been with Crossbeam since its inception and reflected, “It’s crazy to think that just a year and a half ago, we were celebrating the activation of our very first residential customer, and now, here we are celebrating our 1,500th customer. Hearing how our services have impacted the lives of our Carroll EMC member customers never gets old, and we look forward to celebrating many more of these milestones together.”
Crossbeam is bringing residential fiber internet to traditionally unserved and underserved communities in western Georgia through a cooperative effort with Carroll EMC. Phase 1 network construction began in December 2021. Currently, service is available to nearly 4,500 homes in Heard County and southern Carroll County. Upon completion in approximately 8 months, high-speed internet access will be available to nearly 8,000 Carroll EMC members across the 200 square mile Phase 1 service area, which covers parts of Carroll, Heard, and Haralson counties.
The fiber-optic network Crossbeam and Carroll EMC are building provides Broadband-level internet at service tiers of 200 Mbps, 500 Mbps, and 1 Gbps, all of which include managed firewalling and Wi-Fi access. Expansion of the fiber network will continue in phases until all Carroll EMC members have access to quality fiber internet service. Phase 2 construction will begin in early 2024, with initial activations expected during the second half of the year. When complete, Phase 2 will make Crossbeam’s internet service available to over 8,000 additional Carroll EMC member homes.
