Carrollton Middle School Beta Club students had a strong showing at the State Junior Beta Convention held in Savannah earlier this week.
Seventh grade student Liberty Thomaston not only achieved the prestigious title of State Beta Club President but also demonstrated exceptional leadership by leading the club to an impressive second place in the club’s campaign skit. Liberty’s dedication also secured fifth place in the club scrapbook and the service learning showcase.
CMS Principal Eric Simmons said he is proud of Liberty.
“Liberty is a hardworking and dedicated student,” he said. “She has a clear passion for service to CMS and her community. I am very proud of her and can’t wait to see what she accomplishes as Georgia Junior Beta Club president.”
In addition to Liberty’s accomplishment, eighth grader Landon Blankinship illustrated his impressive language arts skills by clinching first place in the ELA category and eighth grader Eliana Neill captivated judges with her creativity and secured fourth place in jewelry design.
And the success doesn’t end there — a total of 35 CMS students attended the convention and showed off their skills and talents.
The commitment of sponsors Holly Lane, Camille Lovelace, Amby Shoemake, and Whitney Whitfield played an important role in the students’ success at the convention.
“I am grateful to our administration, teachers, and parents who contributed to making this convention season a success,” said Lane. “Our focus now shifts to Nationals! The National Convention is scheduled to take place in Savannah from June 10-June 13.”
