Chancie Powers-Benefield named West Georgia Region Positive Athlete

Chancie is pictured with Central High School Principal Mr. Kelly Edwards.

Central High School senior was named the Most Positive Athlete in the West Georgia region by the Positive Athlete Association. Positive Athlete recognized students in the 9-12 grade based on their character rather than their athletic performance. This year the program will recognize 5,000 student-athletes and coaches from over 430 high schools. Only about 7% of those nominated are recognized as regional winners.

Each regional winner has overcome difficult circumstances or has significantly given back to their community and school. Positive Athlete focuses on optimism, putting the team first, encouraging others, being respectful, admitting imperfections, having a true heart for others, and embracing service.

Chancie has been a member of the varsity girls’ basketball team, varsity flag football team and is a member of the track and field team. She was recently recognized as an honor graduate and received awards for Carroll County Scholar and from the University of West Georgia’s dual enrollment program.
