Lexi Warren Selected for Retired Ladies Scholarship

Central High School senior Lexi Warren was awarded a scholarship earlier today. The Retired Ladies of Central High School presented Lexi with a scholarship to help her with tuition and expenses as she plans to attend the University of West Georgia and earn her degree in nursing.

The Retired Ladies is a group of more than 30 ladies who have worked at Central High School as teachers, office staff, media specialists, and paraprofessionals. The ladies came together because they love children, loved their time working together and now they enjoy fellowship as they coordinate the annual scholarship.

The retired ladies felt the best way to honor their history and encourage future students was to award a scholarship to a deserving student to help further their education. This year, the ladies were proud to present the award to Lexi, who was nominated by Ms. Jane Lyons, the Science Department Chair. The scholarship award was presented by Dr. Loretta Griffin, who taught science and biology before leaving to become a chiropractor, and by Ms. Kathy Akers a former teacher and department chair.
