Two track athletes from Bremen High School brought home accolades after the Georgia High School Association Track Meet held May 9 through 11. “I cannot be more proud of two of the best athletes and people. These young ladies are the best of the best in every way,” Bremen Athletic Director Whitt Brown said. Sophomore Annabelle Langley is the AAA state champion for the shot put category. “My family doesn’t let us eat at the big table unless we have a state championship ring. This year, I get to eat at the big table,” Langley laughed. “On a serious note, the best part of winning the state title for shot put was knowing I made my hometown proud. I have so many people who support and encourage me, including teachers, friends, coaches, and family members; and I am so grateful for them.”
Sophomore Marley Derringer won the AAA state championship for high jump. This is her second year in a row winning the championship. She sets the AAA state record for height, standing six feet tall. Derringer also ranked number one in high jump in the state and number two in high jump in the country. “Being the back-to-back state champ is an amazing feeling. The support from my community means everything, and I’m so blessed with the talents God has given me,” Derringer said. Both girls are coached by Head Track Coach Dawlon Cole. “I feel it is a testament to the caliber of athletes that we have here at Bremen and the commitment our system and the community have made to ensure our athletes have what they need to develop,” Cole said.
