Exciting News for Carrollton! Around the Block Boutique, a new consignment boutique specializing in affordable formalwear for women of all sizes, has just opened its doors at 306B Rome Street, right in downtown Carrollton. Owner Laura Colquitt recognized the long-standing need for such a shop while searching for dresses for her youngest daughter, Lillian. After discovering a treasure trove of dresses at a local thrift store in west Georgia, she decided to purchase the entire lot. Just days later, she stumbled upon another collection of mostly new formalwear, prompting her to buy that inventory as well so that she could open her store with an already great inventory—talk about a sign of double confirmation!
With strong support from her family and the community, Laura’s mission to be a good steward has blossomed into Around the Block Boutique, now offering over 350 new and gently used gowns for ladies wanting to look beautiful on a budget. Since its grand opening last week with much fanfare, the boutique has already brought in over 70 dresses on consignment and has welcomed numerous visitors, including some traveling from 1 to 2 hours away in search of the perfect dress. “The community support has been incredible! It’s been such a fun experience, and it all just landed right in my lap!”” Laura shares. She’s thrilled to continue adding more consigned dresses from local homecomings, proms, college formals, galas, and other events to ensure a diverse selection for everyone.
