Discount City Thrift—A Place to Explore and Shop

Call me old school but when I was younger, I never dreamed garage or yard sales were anything but folks trying to get rid of stuff they no longer wanted. However, Andy and Nikki Hudson taught me something new, and the truth was backed up by a Good Morning America episode telling viewers “Thrifting” is the trend for gift buying this holiday season!”  Simply that means buying vintage can make a person trendy. Of course, the Hudson’s are not new entrepreneurs. They already operate a retail shop, but “saw the need for a thrift store in Carrollton’s Tower Plaza.” Add a three-year-old into the mix, and they should be called a super-couple. When asked what made their thrift store different from others of the same type, Andy and Nikki responded, “Our prices are more affordable, and the store is more organized. We supply designer and name brands at a fraction of the retail price.”

The merchandise they carry is mind-blowing, and the owners shared, “We have a lot of NEW items from retailers like JC Penney, Target, Cato’s and Vera Bradley.  We also have some unique vintage items. For the doll collectors, we have Madame Alexander dolls. Other items include a Louisville Slugger bat and glove, Nancy Drew books, a wedding dress from Neiman Marcus, antique furniture, and more! If you enjoy the thrill of the hunt, Discount City Thrift is sure to please!” The shop purchases from wholesalers, estate sales, yard sales, and it even has some donated items.

With Christmas right around the corner, they have wonderful items on sale, such as clothing, miscellaneous bins, crystal, and glassware, to name just a few. The Hudsons’ motto is “We go Big or Bigger, we don’t go home!”  They continue, “We thank you and appreciate your support! To future customers, we look forward to serving you and providing quality merchandise at the absolute best prices ANYWHERE!”  They would love customer feedback on customer service and ideas for what their clientele would like to see in the stores.  They appreciate their customers and look forward to serving them more. Hours of operation for Christmas Eve are 9:00 A. M. to 5:00 P. M., but they will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
