The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce proudly announces the 2025 STAR (Student Teacher Achievement Recognition) Students and Teachers. This annual program, sponsored by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE), honors high school seniors with the highest SAT scores and top academic performance, along with the teachers who have most inspired them.
Established in 1958, the STAR Program celebrates academic excellence and the vital role educators play in shaping future leaders. STAR Students represent the top scholars from public and private high schools in Carroll County, and each selects their STAR Teacher to share in this recognition.
2025 Carroll County STAR Honorees:
- Bowdon High School’s STAR Student, Destiny Richardson, and STAR Teacher, Mrs. Carrie Gay
- Carrollton High School’s STAR Student, Elijah Slappey, and STAR Teacher, Mrs. Kristen Sabo
- Central High School’s STAR Student, Mary Lois Griffis, and STAR Teacher, Mrs. Elizabeth Rance
- Mt. Zion High School’s STAR Student, Hannah Green, and STAR Teacher, Ms. Chyna Gowan
- Oak Mountain Academy’s STAR Student, Edward Handley, and STAR Teacher, Ms. Kari Manuel
- Temple High School’s STAR Student, Kirra Hines, and STAR Teacher, Mrs. Gina Niemann
- Villa Rica High School’s STAR Student, Clay Brown, and STAR Teacher, Mr. Jonathan Cook
The Chamber congratulates these exceptional students and teachers on their achievements and wishes them success in their future endeavors.
This year’s honorees will be recognized at a special breakfast hosted by the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Chick-fil-A Carrollton on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. at the Carroll County Schools Performing Arts Center.
