West Georgia Technical College Student Lisa Ashton Named Hinman Scholar

West Georgia Technical College (WGTC) is proud to announce that Dental Hygiene student Lisa Ashton has been selected as a recipient of the Hinman Dental Hygiene Student Scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship, awarded by the Hinman Dental Society (HDS), recognizes outstanding scholastic achievement and financial need among senior-level students enrolled in the Associate Degree Dental Hygiene program at WGTC.

Since 1989, the Hinman Dental Society has been awarding scholarships to exceptional dental hygiene students, continuing its commitment to fostering excellence in the field. Scholarship recipients also receive the opportunity to attend the esteemed Hinman Dental Meeting and a private scholarship dinner in Atlanta, providing valuable networking and educational experiences.

Lisa Ashton exemplifies leadership and dedication both in and out of the classroom. She currently serves as the senior class President of the Student American Dental Hygiene Association, has created a clinical education YouTube channel for the Dental Hygiene Program, and actively contributes to the community through oral health education initiatives. Her passion for dental hygiene and commitment to excellence have earned her the distinguished title of Hinman Scholar.

“We are incredibly proud of Lisa and her accomplishments,” said WGTC Dental Hygiene Program Director Melondy Martin. “Her leadership and contributions to our program and community embody the highest standards of dental hygiene education. We appreciate the support of the Hinman Dental Society in helping us recognize and develop future dental professionals.”
