Progress is happening in downtown Carrollton as work continues on the redevelopment of The Shoppes at Rome Street, a 40,000-square-foot retail project on nearly three acres in the heart of the city. Despite the ongoing construction, all businesses at The Shoppes remain open and ready to serve customers, so be sure to stop by and support your local favorites.
Much of this information comes from a December 4 press release by Stratus Development Group, which announced the redevelopment project aimed at transforming the historic property. Originally the first “retail center” ever built in Carrollton, the site is set to welcome new retailers and is expected to encourage further development in the surrounding area.
“We would like to thank the City of Carrollton for the opportunity to work together on this project,” said Jeff Koon, President of Stratus Property Group. “Considering the geographic size and population of the trade area, we feel that downtown Carrollton has only just begun its revitalization.”
The property, located at 415 Rome Street, sits just one block from the popular Adamson Square shops and restaurants, making it a key part of Carrollton’s growing downtown district.
This redevelopment aligns with the City of Carrollton’s long-term planning for downtown. Recent additions to the area include The Amp, a covered 1,000-seat amphitheater featuring a full calendar of entertainment events. The downtown district has also welcomed new breweries like Local Ties Brewing Company, The Craft Rabbit Meadery, and the soon-to-open Dream City Brewing Company. Community events such as the Taste of Carrollton and the Carrollton Half-Marathon continue to bring energy and visitors to the area.
