One of the biggest announcements is the arrival of Thunderzone Family Entertainment Center, which is officially bringing its second location to Carrollton. This beloved entertainment hotspot—already a favorite in Douglasville—has just signed a lease to move into the former Big Lots space. With Big Lots recently closing, Thunderzone will fill the space with bowling, axe throwing, golf simulators, an arcade, and a full bar and restaurant.
For those who have experienced Thunderzone in Douglasville, you know this place is all about fun for the whole family. Carrollton has been eager for more entertainment options, and this new addition will bring exactly that. The grand opening is scheduled for December 2025, with buildout work beginning soon.
Planet Fitness Expanding to First Tuesday Mall
Right next door to Thunderzone, Planet Fitness will also be setting up shop. The popular gym chain will take over the former Shoe Show space and is expected to open by the end of this year. This marks a big step in making First Tuesday Mall not just a shopping destination, but a hub for health, wellness, and recreation.
