Carrollton High School junior Luis Marti Reyes is headed to Georgia Southern in Statesboro this summer to participate in the Governor’s Honors Program. After passing the rigorous application and personal interview rounds, Luis secured his selection as a finalist and will represent the district in the program.
The Governor’s Honors Program, known as GHP, is a four-week residential summer program for gifted and talented rising high school juniors and seniors. Students who attend public, private, and home schools are eligible for nomination in one of 20 subject areas. This year, GHP will be held June 15 through July 12.
Luis will participate in the area of World Languages with a Spanish concentration. He will carry on the strong legacy CHS has set by developing more than 30 GHP finalists throughout the last decade.
“We are proud of Luis for earning this great accomplishment as a finalist for the Governor’s Honors Program,” said CHS Principal Ian Lyle, “He has shown his dedication to academics as a part of our International Baccalaureate (IB) program and will continue to impress at the state level through GHP.”
