The City of LaGrange plans to close on Friday, April 18th from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Hundreds of city employees will be picking up litter in the community’s main thoroughfares during this time. This year’s community partner is West Georgia Technical College.
*NEW THIS YEAR* The City will provide free shredding services from 10:00 a.m. to Noon in the Municipal Court parking lot, 208 Ridley Avenue. This service is free and open to the public.
This litter cleanup campaign began in April 2018, hoping to send a message to the community that the City of LaGrange is serious about cleaning up the community and will lead by example. The April 2018 event was so well-received by employees, citizens, and elected leaders that the city began hosting monthly cleanups. Since 2018, the city has been proud to have partnered with many community groups, businesses, schools, colleges, and individuals to leave LaGrange better than we found it. The slogan was inspired by the comments of District 2 City Councilmember Nathan Gaskin, who said in a city council meeting, “My mom told me to leave things better than I found it.”
On Friday, April 18th community members, organizations, and area businesses are invited to join us in cleaning up our community. To participate with us, simply show up Friday at 8:00 a.m. in front of LaGrange City Hall, 200 Ridley Avenue. We will have a quick ceremony and then leave from that location to pick up litter in the area.
After the cleanup, City employees and volunteers are invited to Sweetland Amphitheatre for lunch before returning to work at 1:00 p.m. City offices will open at 1:00 p.m.
