The Carrollton Center for the Arts will celebrate the opening of two art exhibitions surrounding the theme of Earth Day with a public reception on April 17.
Repurposed: A Carrollton Artist Guild Juried Exhibition will run April 17 – June 2. The show will feature the work of guild members using nonfunctional, abandoned and discarded items as a part of their art.
In addition to the Artist Guild exhibition, each year, the Center for the Arts invites artists from outside Carrollton to share their experience, talent and creativity with the local community. This year’s exhibit, When Communities Collide: Georgia Nature Photographers Association, will be at the center April 17 – May 29. The Georgia Nature Photographers Association members’ work documents and preserves the natural world and spotlights the value of nature as a photography special interest.
“Nature’s power and beauty has been a muse for artists since the beginning of time,” said Visual Arts Coordinator Marcella Kuykendall. “These exhibits provide not only a window into the natural environment that has inspired so many over the centuries, but also ask viewers to consider their own role in sustaining the planet, providing future generations a continued source of awe and inspiration.”
The reception starts at 5pm.
Repurposed is in a program partnership with Alex and Susan Roush.
