Villa Rica Golden City Lions Club Launches Community Garden Project

A new community garden is taking shape in downtown Villa Rica, thanks to the efforts of the Villa Rica Golden City Lions Club. The club has officially adopted two garden spaces within the city, with one located just behind the recently opened WIC office, a short walk from The MILL.

This garden includes pomegranate trees, blueberry bushes, and a large vegetable garden bed. A picnic bench is also planned, offering a welcoming space for residents to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

The project has been made possible through the combined support of local partners. Hal Burch, public works director for the City of Villa Rica and a board member of Keep Carroll Beautiful, played a key role in the garden’s development. Soil for the garden was donated by Alternative Environments, Inc., adding to the collaborative spirit of the initiative.

Funding for the Community Garden Program comes from the Community Foundation of West Georgia, the Carroll EMC Foundation, and contributions from individual donors. Their support is helping to promote local food production and strengthen community ties through shared green spaces.

This garden represents a meaningful step in creating more accessible and sustainable areas throughout Villa Rica.
