UWG Raises Record-Breaking $2.2 Million in 43rd A Day

The University of West Georgia celebrated its 43rd annual A Day to Give West with a landmark achievement: $2,196,878 raised to support student success and institutional growth.  

The University of West Georgia celebrated its 43rd annual A Day to Give Westwith a landmark achievement: $2,196,878 raised to support student success and institutional growth. 

Supporters, university leaders and key community members gathered on campus Thursday to honor the impact of the campaign and the generosity of those who make it possible. During the celebration, UWG President Dr. Michael Johnson reflected on the significance of A Day and the strength of the UWG community. 

“A Day is a testament to the enduring commitment of our community to the success of our students,” Johnson said. “Every gift – no matter its size – creates a ripple effect that will position our institution for growth for years to come. I am deeply grateful for the generosity of our supporters and the lasting impact they make.” 

Allyson Bretch ’14, CEO of UWG’s foundations and vice president for university advancement, emphasized gratitude and the impact of philanthropic giving.  

“A Day is a tradition that brings the UWG community together while elevating UWG’s impact and ensuring our students have the resources and opportunities they need to succeed,” said Bretch. “The impact of the generosity from the community is a point of pride for me, and I am so thankful to all who give back.” 

Since its founding in 1982, A Day has united students, faculty, staff and community partners in a shared mission to support the university’s growth and success. The campaign invites the entire UWG community to contribute to the university’s legacy through gifts to the Annual FundGeneral Scholarship FundWolves Fund or any area of personal significance. 

It was the first A Day for UWG President Dr. Michael Johnson, pictured, who joined the university in August. 

In addition to the funds raised on A Day, supporters of UWG Athleticscontributed more than $60,000 to the Back the Pack crowdfunding campaign

“Giving through A Day deeply touches the lives of our students and strengthens our entire community,” said Haley Jackson, UWG’s executive director of development. “Thanks to the continued generosity of our supporters, we are able to expand opportunities for student success, build a stronger university and invest in a brighter future for generations to come.”
