The City of LaGrange Mayor and three City Councilmembers were sworn into office Tuesday night (1/13). Outgoing District 1 City Councilmember Tom Gore thanked his family, councilmembers, and constituents before officially stepping down from his position. After serving 20 years, Gore decided not to run for re-election.

Mayor Jim Arrington took the oath of office on Tuesday after being re-elected mayor in November 2025, beginning a four-year term. Arrington was initially elected to the city council in 2018 and later elected Mayor in a special election in May 2024 following the sudden passing of Mayor Willie T. Edmondson.

District 1 City Councilmember Darby Pippin was sworn into office after being elected to a four-year term in November. Pippin was initially elected to office in May 2024’s special election, filling the vacant District 1 council seat previously held by Arrington after he stepped down to run for Mayor.

District 2 City Councilmember Ameia Cotton Williams was sworn into office for a four-year term. This is Williams’ first term in office.

District 1 City Council member Steve Pardue was sworn into office for a four-year term. This is also Pardue’s first term in office.

The City Council also elected District 2 Councilmember Leon Childs as Mayor Pro Tem. The job of Mayor Pro Tem is to assume mayoral duties in the event of the mayor’s absence.
