Lambert Tire Co. is celebrating 65 years in business, a reflection of its long-standing commitment to the Carrollton community. But the story behind this neighborhood shop goes back even further.
The history of 134 Bankhead Avenue begins in the 1920s with Duke’s Oil Company, a general store with gas pumps. In the 1940s, it operated as Jordan’s, offering mechanic services, tires, and used cars. When Bill Lambert purchased the business in 1961, it was known as Boggs’ Grocery & Service Station. That year marked the beginning of Lambert Tire Co.
Much of this early history lives on thanks to longtime customers with stories to share. Even before it became Lambert Tire, the location was a popular gathering place for Carrollton residents. For more than a century, it has served as a true “third place” in the community, a spot beyond home and work where people connect.
Today, Lambert Tire remains true to those roots. With a strong neighborhood identity and a focus on dependable service, it continues to be more than just an auto shop. It is a lasting part of daily life in Carrollton, just as it has been for generations.
