Dr. Julie Raschen has been named as the Coweta County School System’s Director of Assessment and Accountability, beginning July, 2015.
Raschen is currently the principal of Brooks Elementary School, where she has served since 2009. In her new position, Raschen will oversee all school system standardized testing in grades K-12, as well as oversee system strategic planning and accountability efforts, school and system assessment and improvement tools, and school accreditation, among other duties.
Raschen is a 22-year educator who began teaching in the Coweta County School System during the 1993-94 school year, as a 1st grade teacher at White Oak Elementary School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Education from Georgia Southern University in 1992, her master’s degree in Leadership at the University of West Georgia in 2002, her specialist’s degree from Sanford University in 2004, and her doctorate in Education Leadership from Sanford University 2007.
Raschen taught for ten years at White Oak as a 1st and 4th grade teacher, before being named as Assistant Principal of Elm Street in 2003, and then Elm Street Principal in 2005. Raschen was named the first Principal of Brooks Elementary when the school was opened in 2009.
Among other honors, Raschen was named Georgia’s 2014 National Distinguished Principal, by the Georgia and National Associations of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and the U.S. Department of Education in 2014. She is married to David Raschen and the couple has two children – David Allen and Casey.
