There is a good bit of activity happening just about 60 miles north of Carrollton in the city of Rome. The Cotton Block Antique Mall is in the works to be reopen under new ownership around July 1st on 114 Broad Street. According to the Rome News and Tribune, John Massey will be taking over the Antique Mall from Patsy Lake. Mr. Massey  plans to move his jewelry store inside the Antique Mall. Currently his Jewelry Store is on 110 Broad Street. Also being added to the Rome / Floyd area is a Lowe’s Distribution Center that will employ up to 600 jobs by 2016. The distribution center is under construction now and will most likely open in 2013.  Also the current Kroger on Turner Mcall is getting a $2.9 million dollar makeover. Construction crews are adding about 22,000 square feet of space. This Kroger is located in the old Riverbend Mall area, which is now Riverbend Shopping Center. Riverbend is anchored by Barnes and Noble, TJ Maxx, and Talbots. Moving closer up towards the Hospital a Publix is being built directly across the street.
