Relax, de-stress, unwind. You are at Serenbe. This literal “Secret Garden” awaits you just minutes away from Newnan, Carrollton, and Atlanta. Serenbe is a beautiful community within several acres of forest land. Small hamlets set the stage of true civility. Minds cleared, families together, fresh food, and fresh air all encompass the beauty at Serenbe.
Currently, construction is taking place on Serenbe’s newest hamlet, Mado. Stevie Seay, public relations coordinator for Serenbe, tells The City Menus, “Mado is a Creek Indian term for ‘life in balance’ and has a commercial focus on health and wellness. When construction commences, Mado will be Serenbe’s most dense neighborhood with plans for 380 homes.”
A colorful building named One Mado greets visitors as they enter Mado. This building will house tenants all focused on preventive and holistic healthcare. Soon a chiropractor, gym, restaurant, spa, cycling and yoga studio will open.
The newest restaurant, Halsa, will be one of the highlights in the One Mado building. Halsa which means “Health” will boast thoughtfully prepared dishes such as Swedish specialties, a full bar, and patio. The talent behind the majestic interior design is no other than Atlanta native, Smith Hanes. Halsa will feature breakfast, lunch, and dinner options.
Dinner looks to be incredibly delicious with the shrimp skagen, butter lettuce, organic sour cream, pickled red onions, potato cake, and smoked trout roe. Now that is a true Swedish and Nordic experience! Halsa is expected to open this Spring. Serenbe yoga & bodyworks along with the gym at Serenbe will open soon after Halsa opens at the One Mado building.
More charming features lie in the wooded area directly behind the mail area of Mado. When asked about the secret waterfall, Stevie responds, “It’s a natural feature of the land that many people discover on our 15-mile trail network either by foot or by horse via Serenbe Trailriding. Camp Serenbe uses this area for Summer Kids camp, and it was even the site of Serenbe Playhouse’s “Macbeth” in the summer of 2017.
Other areas of Serenbe, especially the Selborne Hamlet, have seen retail and food changes recently. The Hill refreshed their menu along with their new ownership. We had an opportunity to taste delicious food there during lunch. “At the new The Hill at Serenbe, we’re focused on creating inspiring dining experiences that make you want to return again and again,” said Lee Davidson, general manager of The Hill. See pictures from our lunch below.
HAMLIN, directly across the street, opened during 2018. This particular shop features west coast energy flowing throughout all their products. You can find men’s and women’s apparel, jewelry, life accessories, kids’ and pet apparel, along with wellness and skincare products. With more to come, a new Italian restaurant is in the planning stages for this area of Serenbe.
