Clay Patterson, who currently serves as a Deputy Sheriff for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office has been appointed as E-911 Director by Chairman Michelle Morgan. Patterson has over 12 years of public safety and management skills and began his career at the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office as a Jail Detention Officer after graduating from Haralson County High School in 2007 as an honor graduate. Patterson began to grow his public safety career by
holding titles such as a field training officer, patrol officer, instructor, and worked his way through the ranks from Corporal to Sergeant.
Patterson was approached by the City of Kingston during his time with Bartow County and was asked to assist in the local police department in recruiting and retaining staff as well as many other tasks to allow the department to stay in compliance with State standards and that path led Patterson to being appointed as Chief of Police in Kingston, making him the youngest Chief in the State of Georgia.
He has obtained a Bachelor’s degree from Reinhardt University in Organizational Management and Leadership, graduating Magma Cum Laude, and is currently working on his Master’s degree at the University of Alabama in Communications.
Patterson stated, “I am beyond grateful and humbled by the Chairman’s decision to appoint me as the next director for the Carroll County E911 Communication Center. My entire adult career has evolved around public safety and I could not be more excited to work with my colleagues to ensure that we bring our 911 center to the next level. I have been fortunate to spend many years working directly alongside dispatchers and learning what their job entails, what they go through, and the level of difficulty of what they deal with on a daily basis. Most do not understand the importance of a dispatcher’s job because they are behind the scenes. I am also grateful that I am getting the opportunity to work in the community where I spent the majority of my childhood living just down the road.”
