Over two days in March Oak Mountain Academy is hosting a reunion and a black-tie optional gala.
The reunion for all alumni, past parents, former teachers and trustees celebrates the six decades on Friday, March 18 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on their campus at 222 Cross Plains Road, Carrollton, Georgia. All are encouraged to wear spirit wear from their days at OMA or something in the school colors of red and blue.
Four rooms of the Upper School will be filled with memorabilia, photos, videos, uniforms, and trophies from across the decades. “The ‘student lounge’ experience promises to be like walking onto a movie set of the student lounge from the Folds House campus,” according to alumna, parent, and trustee Maria Lewis Bartlett, “including music blasting out into the hallway!”
The next room will showcase the arts and academics, with photos, videos, scrapbooks, and trophies from the school’s plays, pageants, and literary meets. Videos of four plays, each of which had casts of first grade through twelfth grade students, will be running on one screen while still photos from all the arts will be running on another.
The third room will highlight the uniforms, spirit wear, and athletics, while the fourth room will celebrate nine event categories, from spaghetti suppers to Halloween carnivals and annual kite days.
On Saturday, March 19, the birthday celebration continues at the gymnasium with the Diamond Anniversary Gala from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The ticketed event includes dinner, both a silent and a live auction, and a live band to entertain. Attire is black-tie optional. Tickets for the Gala are available through the pop-up screen on the Academy’s website www.oakmountain.us
