At the November meeting of the Bremen City Schools Board of Education, board members, staff, students, and families gathered to celebrate student success, highlight district progress, and approve upcoming initiatives.
One of the night’s standout moments was the recognition of the Bremen High School softball team for winning the 2025 GHSA State Championship. Their playoff run in Columbus was described as exceptional, with coaches praising the team’s discipline, leadership, and cohesion. The roster featured a promising mix of talent—four freshmen, five sophomores, three juniors, and four seniors—suggesting that the future of Bremen softball remains bright. Coach Harper compared the team’s journey to a “David and Goliath” story, crediting their preparation and resilience. Players and coaches were honored with plaques, and Athletic Director Christina Howard helped lead the ceremony.

Middle school cross country star Averi Pollard was also celebrated for capturing the Georgia Middle School State Cross Country Championship, finishing first out of 152 runners with a time of 12:27—nearly a minute ahead of the next competitor. Her team placed third overall in the state meet, and Averi was named a Middle School All-American Athlete for her outstanding season.
The board also recognized the broader success of Bremen’s fall athletic programs. In addition to the state title in softball:
- The volleyball team finished as state runner-up.
- The boys’ cross country team placed seventh at the state meet.
- The girls’ cross country team earned state runner-up honors, showcasing their depth and talent.
- The cheerleaders are headed to the state championship after winning their region.
- The football team is preparing for its own state playoff run, continuing the momentum of a strong fall season.

On the facilities front, the board approved upgrades to Redding Field, with turf replacement scheduled to begin the day after graduation in May. Additional improvements, such as new netting and play clocks, will also be completed in-house.
The transportation department logged 221 trips in October, covering over 5,400 miles. As colder months approach, maintenance crews are shifting to winter preparations, while keeping older vehicles running until new funding becomes available.
District enrollment currently stands at 2,321 students.
On the consent agenda, the board approved prior meeting minutes, policy reviews, and personnel matters—including retirements and resignations effective at the end of the school year, as well as new hires for cafeteria and substitute staff.
As the district transitions into winter, there’s continued excitement around sports, academics, and student engagement. Board members closed the meeting with praise for staff and administrators who continue to prioritize student achievement while ensuring smart, strategic decision-making throughout the district.
