Body swaps! Magic hourglasses! Sandwiches and hilarious heartwarming fun! All of that and more as UWG Theatre Company presents Disney’s Freaky Friday: A New Musical. Hot off the heels of the 2025 sequel film, Freakier Friday, this body-swapping comedy is based on Mary Rodgers’ 1972 novel and Disney’s 1976 adaptation. The classic story of what it’s like to live in someone else’s shoes is presented in modern musical fashion as we wrap up UWG Theatre Company’s 2025-2026 “Opposites Attract” Season!
With the score written by Tony Award-winning composers Brian Yorkey and Tom Kitt (Next to Normal, If/Then), Disney’s Freaky Friday follows Katherine, an overworked mother who is about to get married, and her teenage daughter, Ellie, who magically swap bodies after a heated argument. The pair must live a day in each other’s shoes to finally understand one another in ways they haven’t before.
Disney’s Freaky Friday will be performed at the Townsend Center Mainstage on Wednesday, April 22nd through Saturday, April 25th at 7:30 PM, with a matinee on Sunday, April 26th at 2:30 PM. Tickets will be $15 for adults, $5 for students with UWG ID and children 16 years of age and younger, and $10 for seniors and military.
