The Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum (SQTM) is proud to celebrate Carroll County’s 200th Anniversary by featuring historic quilts and modern textiles tied to the county’s residents. This exhibit will be on display from September 19 through November 17, 2026.
This exhibition will highlight historic pieces from the museum’s permanent collection ranging from early coverlets to contemporary art quilts. The exhibition will include a coverlet made of homespun thread near Bowdon, a hope chest quilt from the Morris family, and several community signature quilts. The Clem Community quilt with 85 signatures will be stabilized and preserved by volunteers for future generations as an ongoing project during this exhibit.
It also features screenprint proofs and two bedspreads designed by Bruce Bobick that were commissioned for the opening of Disney All Star Hotels. Several additional pieces have been borrowed from area residents, ranging from family quilts to modern textile art made by current Carroll County artists.
“This exhibit shares stories of people in Carroll County, where each stitch tells of a moment in time,” said Amy Loch, Executive Director of the Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum. “Each piece stitched, used, and passed on is a part of the county’s history and brings meaning to the layers which warmed generations.”
The Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum is located at 306 Bradley Street in Carrollton, Georgia, and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Regular admission is $8, with discounts available. For more information about upcoming exhibits and programs, visit sqtmuseum.org.
