American Sign Language camp is an opportunity for individuals ages 8 and up with or without previous sign language knowledge to learn sign language through a number of activities, games, lectures and arts & crafts. This fun and interactive summer camp will focus on the history of ASL, Deaf Culture, Alphabet/Numbers, Animal Signs, Family Signs, Color Signs, Food Signs, Emergency Signs, Conversational phrases, Songs in Sign, Games Played in Sign Only (no voice) and much more. ASL is the 3rd most common language used in the United States and is now recognized as a foreign language at the college level across the United States. At the end of the week the campers’ families and friends will be treated to a special performance to show off their new language skills.All campers will receive a camp t-shirt along with various materials and tools that can be used to continue their acquisition of ASL.
