The City of Carrollton released a public notice on Monday stating that Superior International Industries is seeking approval on an application to temporarily use the former Big Lots space at Lake Carroll Mall for light manufacturing purposes.
A fire destroyed the Superior Recreation Products building on Columbia Drive on the evening of July 5. There were no injuries reported during the incident in which the 80,000-square-foot building collapsed.
Superior Recreation Products is part of Superior International Industries, which manufactures plastic playground and recreation equipment. An official statement regarding the incident or SRP’s plan to reopen operations in a new location has not been released by Superior International Industries.
The public notice states that the City Council will hold a special called meeting on July 26 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss the application to use the space located at 1111 Bankhead Highway for “temporary use of commercial space for light manufacturing purposes.”
The meeting on July 26 is open to the public and will take place at 315 Bradley Street in Carrollton.
