The LaGrange International Friendship Exchange, or L.I.F.E., will be holding its fourth annual LaGrange International Festival in downtown LaGrange Saturday, September 7 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.

The annual family-friendly and free event features food, music and fun from twenty different countries. At Saturday’s festival, local community members with international ties will each have a booth to share the food and culture from Korea, Nicaragua, France, India, Nigeria, Peru, Tibet, Trinidad, Germany, Jamaica, Israel, England, Czech Republic, Mexico, Guatemala, Ghana, Scotland, Lebanon, Brazil and China. (Countries represented are subject to slight change.) Most booths will feature free food so festival-goers can taste an expansive array of international fare.

In addition to food, the festival also features games for children, face painting, live music and entertainment. A “passport” will be available for children to take to each booth and ask for the capital city of each country.

Festival performances include the American National Anthem, Korean percussion, Indian ‘Bollywood’ dance, African drumming, Peruvian and Mexican dance, Tibetan instrumental music, Tae Kwon Do and more.

L.I.F.E. will be hosting a Student Art Show Friday, September 6th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Cochran Gallery on Lafayette Square. The community is also invited to “Music for Peace,” a free international concert on Sunday, September 8th from 7 to 8 p.m. at LaGrange College’s Callaway Auditorium.

Sunday’s concert will mark the 12th year that L.I.F.E. has been a part of The September Concert, a national grassroots charity effort that responded to the tragic events on September 11, 2001, by holding community concerts worldwide. Founders of The September Concert Foundation and Sister Cities International established the program to bring communities together through music, reaffirm the hope for peace, and celebrate our universal humanity. LaGrange is one of the few cities that still celebrate the concert every year.
