Art and Vintage Goods Store with a Twist Opens in Downtown Newnan

Jessica Holt has been painting and doing on-the-road art shows for eight years but now operates Junk Starlet by Tigerlily in Downtown Newnan. The store is an art and vintage goods shop. “Everything is all recycled, repurposed, vintage antiques created from nothing,” she says. Additionally, as an artist supporting artists, she uses the shop to hold showcases that introduce the public to other locals.

Jessica wants Junk Starlet to be an experience, especially for visitors to the area. She wants it to be “A must stop and shop like the restaurant that everybody wants to eat at. I want this to be the shop everybody wants to shop at.”

To make the space her own she has redone and painted the store herself. While showing the wall of the store that she painted full of black tick marks she mentions, “I really like a print. I like print on print on print. I like to wear everything that I possibly can printed.” This shows not only throughout her work but through her style as well.

Up for sale in the shop are her painted-in clothes. Jessica comments, “As I’ve done shows everybody has asked about them. They want to buy them. So, as my weight has fluctuated, I’ve priced them all and I sell them.”

For Jessica, this is more than just work. She explained, “This is my attempt of coming off the road and transitioning into full-time business here. And being able to hire somebody so that I can travel for fun and not travel for work.” She encourages customers, “Have some fun. It’s not all work… have some time to play…This is a fun place to hang out if you want to find something different you didn’t know you needed.”

If you are looking for the “‘Finest junk art made from recycled and vintage items,’” stop by Tuesday – Saturday from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at 13 West Washington Street, Newnan Georgia. Or find Junk Starlet on Facebook and stay in the know on the latest showcases and updates to the store. The 12 Days of Pop-Up Artist Extravaganza will be starting on December 8th. She concludes with, “Choose Happy! You do get a choice… so make it count!”
