Heather Harp was named principal at Whitesburg Elementary School for next school year on May 7 by the Carroll County Board of Education. The move was one of a number of personnel actions taken as the Carroll County School System prepares for the 2024-25 school year.
Harp began her teaching career in 2009, and has served the last nine years in varying roles in the Glynn County School System. She was teacher of the year for Glynn County in 2019-20. She has been assistant principal at Glynn Middle School since 2022.
“We are glad to welcome Mrs. Harp to Carroll County Schools and Whitesburg Elementary,” Superintendent Scott Cowart said. “She understands that our real purpose is to positively change lives and that elementary school is the start of a journey that leads to success after graduation. I know she will continue to build on the great success at Whitesburg.”
Harp holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Troy University and a specialist degree in leadership from Valdosta State University. She and her husband Chase have a son, Camden, and a daughter, Hunter.
“Family is at the heart of who I am, and I’m excited about joining the Whitesburg family and Carroll County Schools,” Harp said.
The board also approved Kym Hilbert, current interim assistant principal at Villa Rica Middle School, as assistant principal at Glanton-Hindsman Elementary School, Amanda Eskew, a teacher at Providence Elementary School, as assistant principal at Sharp Creek Elementary, and Anthony Finley, student services coordinator at Coweta County Schools, as assistant principal at Mount Zion High School.
In April the board approved Paige Williams, instructional coach at Villa Rica Middle School, as assistant principal at Sand Hill Elementary.
All these administrators will begin their new positions for the 2024-25 school year.
