Plans for the Tanner Health Pavilion, to be built along Dixie Street across from Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton, include outpatient diagnostic imaging services, office space for medical providers, lots of greenspace, walking paths and a connection to the Carrollton GreenBelt.

Tanner Health System will offer outpatient access to diagnostic imaging services, as well as a new cardiac rehabilitation center and more with the construction of the Tanner Health Pavilion in Carrollton.

Several structures along Dixie Street have been cleared in recent weeks to make way for the $35 million, 130,000-square foot medical mall, to be located across from Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton.

According to the most recent draft of the plans for the facility, the new medical mall will house an outpatient diagnostic imaging center, featuring digital X-ray services, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) services, a new mammography center and offices for Tanner Medical Group’s Comprehensive Breast Care Center, which specializes in the surgical treatment of breast cancer. An outpatient lab and outpatient pharmacy also will be available in the facility.

The Tanner Health Pavilion facility also will feature offices, exam rooms and procedure suites for a number of specialties, including obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, heart and vascular services, primary care services, Tanner Pain Management Center and more. A new cardiac rehabilitation unit also is planned for the facility, helping patients regain their strength after a cardiac procedure such as angioplasty and stenting or coronary bypass.

The facility will also feature a state-of-the-art, 10,000-square-foot “Health Plex,” featuring exercise equipment and resources to help patients live healthier lives. An on-site bistro is also planned. The Tanner Health Pavilion’s grounds are designed with a focus on green space, featuring walking paths and a connection to the Carrollton GreenBelt, as well as a space for a seasonal farmers’ market and outdoor events. “We want this to be a destination for health,” said Loy Howard, president and CEO of Tanner Health System. “This is going to be a place for healing and for prevention. It’s going to help people live their best lives.” While some preliminary site work is underway, construction of the pavilion is expected to begin in early 2016, with an anticipated 2017 completion.

“The healthcare industry is changing and our market is changing,” said Howard. “My generation is aging — and there are a lot of us. We’re building this facility to meet the needs of our community now and in the future.” More information on Tanner’s services is available at www.tanner.org or by calling 770.214.CARE (2273).
