Last year in one of our “Did You Know” series of stories we brought to you the news of plans to renovate one of Douglasville’s oldest shopping centers. Forrest Mart located at Fairburn Rd. and Hospital Dr. up until the beginning of the year had seen way better days. The center itself was aging, the parking lot cracked, paint on the stores was worn and faded. Plans were presented to the City Council last summer to begin work to bring new life to the center with an updated facade and new look. Last week we ventured to the shopping center to take a look for ourselves. Based on what we saw, the oldest shopping center in Douglasville will soon have a great new look. Work is already commencing on the project with the new facade being built, one that looks very modern. In the parking lot, in addition to the new Bank of America ATM that was installed a year ago, work is ongoing to install an additional ATM , one that will be a 24-hour banking ATM.

Check below for a few pics of the progress. We will revisit the center in a month or so to check on progress.
